Interesting read, thanks for sharing that. I personally don’t subscribe to those notions (I frequently have been the first to reach out, offer to split or cover the bill, etc.) I’m not one for chivalry and I’m more about mutual respect. I think women are probably as much affected by popular culture representations of romance (watch literally any rom-com on Netflix, or Google “rom com drinking game” to see just how hilariously prolific this stuff is) as men are. The “chaser” and the “chased” is a narrative that goes back ages. I’m all about both people showing their commitment and appreciation mutually. I can’t speak for others, however.
