Emotional intelligence is definitely the key here — that, and understanding why these perceptions exist in the first place. I’d argue there’s a lot of cultural stuff going on at play here, and not just (if even) biological. Women are capable of “reverse friendzoning” too. But the number of women who relate to this concept seems much higher than that of men. I’d never call a man incapable of understanding or acknowledging this. Willingness is another thing.
